NUMÉRO w/ Tao Okamoto – Grungy-Glam, Rock ‘n’ Roll Hair

The style was Rock ‘n’ Roll, Rockabilly, grungy-glam, un-done – up-do chic. We shot in Brooklyn on a very hot day in an old industrial area. Tao is a fantastic model to work with.

I was looking to bring that rockabilly shine along with lightness and glam chic to the look. I decided not to use hair wax because of its tendency to make the hair fall heavy or appear rigid.  Instead I used hair oil from Kos Cosmetics, which is more hair treatment than for styling. The oil brings a lot of shine and leaves the hair more natural looking.

Greg Kadel the photographer is a breeze to work with, his assistants Sam Crawford and Ryan Due and Greg’s Manager Ernesto had the whole day going smoothly, so even though outside locations can sometimes be difficult this one was smooth going and fun.
