VOGUE CHINA 服饰与美容 w/ Sui He -
The idea behind this Vogue China editorial editorial was to transform Sui He into a young French woman of the 80s, artistic, a touch eccentric, sexy, a “BoBo” Bourgeois Bohemian.
Sui He is a great model I love working with her, she’s a lot of fun and super professional. The clothes were extremely colorful and she had to look sexy. I decided to go for a strong symbol of the 80s, curly hair with the mass of the texture moved over to one side. I knew the style would suit her really well having worked with her a few times.
The texture of Chinese hair makes it more difficult to curl than European hair, it does not respond as easily so the base has to be very solidly worked. I used the Wella Enrich Bouncy Foam that I knew would guarantee the maximum of volume but still allow me to work the hair and touch up the curls if need be. Sue has very long, good quality, heavy hair so I occasionally needed to use a medium stay firm finishing spray to keep the shape and the curls fully open.
